reviewing taiwan...

i was in taipei at the very beginning of this year with my bro and my mom... my dad was supposed to make the trip with us but didn't manage to... so the three of us trekked to taipei via cathay pacific... incidentally, i thought cathay's service was down from my previous experience... where was the haa-gen-dazz ice cream desert???

taipei in a way is a city of both old and new... it has a subway system that i feel is a bit older than it should be, feeling wise... i think the spread out of people in a land mass much bigger than hong kong is reason why the trains are not as packed as in hong kong...

our first stop for our visit after checking into our hotel was to go to the shih ling night market...

to be honest i was thinking the place as huge... but it was spread over several small alleyways and was not as big as those found in hong kong... just correct me if i am wrong...

we got to sample some of the local delights... there were countless but needless to say, we were already too full and could only fit in so much... incidentally, the food was not as expensive as those in hong kong...

day 2 - we went to see taipei 101, the current tallest tower in the world....

while the surrounding was nice... it lacked something... the building was well designed but we were not overtly enthusiatic about it...

DSCN5952.jpgDSCN5953.jpgDSCN5955.jpg

something about the design was off... but being there was an experience...

DSCN5956.jpgDSCN5957.jpgDSCN5958.jpg

we ate our lunch... and continued to explore the building.... to get to the top of the building, you need to pay about NTD300 but we decided not to go because it was raining that day and the view would not be as clear..

we stayed at the area for a while.. going to the various japanese shopping centers before taking the train to gwang hua... where all the computer-technogadgetries were...

to be honest... there were quite a lot of things to see there... but i did not manage to get anything... incidentally... they thought i was japanese... hahaha
